Linkspans / Pontoons

Our vast experience in all areas of engineering includes the building of linkspan bridges, large steel structures which  allow larger ships to come alongside  at a distance from the quayside. The inner side of the linkspan is hinged off the quay wall and the outer end is operated with a horizontal buoyancy tank underneath that can be ballasted/pumped to ensure the correct working height for vessels coming alongside.  These structures can weigh up to 400 tonnes so our adjacent quayside facilities were invaluable when loading these structures out.  Linkspans were built for Ringaskiddy,  Portsmouth(2), Guernsey & Orkney Islands.

Large steel pontoon are another area which the yard have been active in and these structure can be designed in house to suit each operational requirement.
